Having been a cosmetologist for 32 years, and having worked for 5 different salons
from the Portland and Bath/Brunswick areas, I decided it was time to open my own salon. ( This, after I "retired"
from the industry to try "something different". I didn't know how much I would miss it.) Thanks to
the experiences and training of the various salons I had worked for, I was able to offer a full Day Spa menu when I opened Shear
Body Hair Studio & Spa.
In May of 2000, Shear Body began in a 110 sq. ft.space in the basement of the old
Mitchell School on High Street in Bath, Maine. I stayed in that location for the next 3 years, once again building
a clientel and improving my skills, especially those of being a small business owner.
Feeling
a bit closed in I began to look for a new location. Construction on the new 1180 sq. ft. space began in April of
2003 and continued until mid August. We opened with a wedding party of 5 which was hectic and a lot of fun.
There have been a lot of changes and
adjustments over the last 10 years, all of which has made us stronger and more excited to be the salon where "You are the center of attention".
